Rutabaga-Apple Casserole

The very best way to eat rutabagas.


1 large fresh rutabaga or 1 large package frozen rutabaga

4 or 5 apples

¼ cup brown sugar

1 tsp cinnamon


2/3 cup flour

2/3 to 1 1/3 cup brown sugar

4 Tbsp butter

2/3 cup oatmeal


Cook and mash the rutabaga.  Add salt and pepper to taste.

Slice the apples and mix with the brown sugar and cinnamon.

In a lightly greased baking dish, layer the rutabaga and apples.

Blend all of the topping ingredients, and crumble on top of the layered casserole.

Bake uncovered, for 1 hour at 350 ˚F.
